Naughty by Nature, a hip-hop group formed in East Orange, NJ in 1986, achieved success with their self-titled debut album in 1991, featuring the hit single "O.P.P." The trio, consisting of MCs Treach and Vinnie, along with DJ Kay Gee, balanced pop chart success with street credibility, appealing to mainstream and hardcore rap audiences alike. Treach ventured into acting, while the group continued to release successful albums, including 19 Naughty III in 1993 and Poverty's Paradise in 1995, which won a Grammy for Best Rap Album.
Following a recording hiatus, Naughty by Nature returned with the album 19 Naughty Nine: Nature's Fury in 1999, featuring the hit "Jamboree." The group faced changes with Kay Gee's departure to focus on production, leading Treach and Vinnie to release the album IIcons as a duo in 2002. Despite a slowdown in momentum, rumors of a comeback album surfaced in 2011, hinting at a potential return to the music scene for Naughty by Nature.
