Natalie's path to pop stardom took an unexpected turn when she answered an ad for Houston Rockets cheerleader auditions, leading to opportunities to dance for Houston rap and R&B artists. Her talent caught the attention of Charles Chavez, who connected her with producers Happy Perez and Play N Skillz. Their collaboration produced the hit ballad "Goin' Crazy," which quickly gained popularity on R&B and pop radio. Natalie was soon signed by Universal and released her debut album in May 2005, followed by her sophomore effort, Everything New, a year later.
