Nara Leão, known as the Musa da Bossa Nova, was a key figure in the bossa nova movement but also ventured into protest songs denouncing the military dictatorship in Brazil. She played a pivotal role in launching the careers of renowned artists like Chico Buarque, Zé Keti, and Edu Lobo. Despite her premature passing, she left behind a significant discography that showcased her social concerns and musical versatility.

Leão's early years in Rio saw her immersed in the emerging bossa nova scene, collaborating with influential musicians and participating in groundbreaking performances.
