Naked Eyes, a prominent figure in the early '80s synth pop movement, was formed in Britain in 1981 by Pete Byrne (vocals) and Rob Fisher (keyboards), former schoolmates. Their debut album, Burning Bridges, released in March 1983 and reissued in the U.S. the following month as a self-titled record, featured the hit single "Always Something There to Remind Me," a successful cover of the Burt Bacharach-Hal David classic. Despite initial success with hits like "Promises, Promises," Naked Eyes' career took a downturn with the poor reception of their 1984 album Fuel for the Fire, leading to the duo's disbandment. Fisher later resurfaced in 1988 as part of the pop duo Climie Fisher, but tragically passed away on August 25, 1999, due to complications following stomach surgery.
