Biography

N.E.R.D., short for "No One Ever Really Dies," was formed by childhood friends Chad Hugo, Pharrell Williams, and Shay Haley, who drew inspiration from a diverse range of artists such as Burt Bacharach and Bad Brains. Initially a side project of the successful production duo The Neptunes, N.E.R.D. allowed Hugo and Williams to explore various musical styles, blending funk rock, bossa nova, and hip-hop influences. Their debut album, In Search Of..., was reworked with live instrumentation by the band Spymob before its U.S. release in 2002, achieving commercial success and critical acclaim.

Following a move to Interscope Records, N.E.R.D. released their third album, Seeing Sounds, in 2008, featuring a heavier rock sound and collaborations with artists like Nelly Furtado and Daft Punk. Subsequent albums Nothing (2010) and NO ONE EVER REALLY DIES (2017) showcased the band's evolution with a broader guest list including Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, and Ed Sheeran. Throughout their career, N.E.R.D. has continued to push boundaries and experiment with their unique blend of genres and influences.
