Biography
N.A.S.A. was a collaborative project between Squeak E. Clean and DJ Zegon, who brought together a diverse group of underground music stars for the album The Spirit of Apollo. Squeak E. Clean, known as Sam Spiegel, gained recognition as a producer for television commercials and worked with artists like Karen O and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. DJ Zegon, born Zé Gonzales, was a member of the Brazilian rap group Planet Hemp before joining forces with Squeak E. Clean for N.A.S.A., which featured artists such as David Byrne, Kanye West, and M.I.A. Unfortunately, Spiegel fell ill with Lyme disease, delaying the project, but they made a comeback in 2015 with new tracks like "Meltdown" and "Hands Up, Don't Shoot!"
Together, Squeak E. Clean and DJ Zegon formed N.A.S.A., enlisting a range of music icons for their debut album, The Spirit of Apollo. Squeak E. Clean, a renowned producer, collaborated with his brother Spike Jonze and worked on projects like the Grammy-nominated Yeah Yeah Yeahs album. DJ Zegon, known for his work in the Brazilian rap scene, brought his South American influences to the collaboration. Despite setbacks due to illness, the duo returned to N.A.S.A. in 2015 with fresh tracks featuring artists such as DMX, Lizzo, and Sean Paul, showcasing their continued innovation in the alternative dance music scene.
