Biography

Illinois native Matthew West began his music career as a songwriter for artists such as Billy Ray Cyrus, Rascal Flatts, and Point of Grace before securing a major-label deal in the mid-2000s. He gained recognition in the Christian music market with albums like Something to Say (2008) and Live Forever (2015), the latter of which crossed over to the pop charts. In 2020, West launched his own label and released the double LP Brand New, followed by My Story Your Glory in 2023.

A former high school baseball star, West turned to music and earned a four-year scholarship to Millikin University, where he released several solo albums. After signing with Universal South Records, he debuted with Happy in 2003, followed by successful releases like The Story of Your Life (2010) and Live Forever (2015). West's career has been marked by accolades, including a Dove Award for Songwriter of the Year in 2018. His latest singles, "Me on Your Mind" and "Don't Stop Praying," have continued to chart well, solidifying his position in the music industry.
