Brazilian hardcore punk band Matanza, known for their fusion of metal and country influences, formed in 1996 with a penchant for lyrics centered around drinking and fighting, earning them the label "countrycore." After releasing their debut album Santa Madre Cassino in 2001, the group faced setbacks with their record label and lineup changes. Matanza continued to evolve their sound with albums like Música Para Beber e Brigar and To Hell with Johnny Cash, showcasing a mix of rowdy energy and more serious tones. By 2015, the band released their seventh album Pior Cenário Possível, marking a new chapter following the departure of founding member China.
