Biography
In the 1980s, as punk in its various forms began to take over the underground scene in Buenos Aires, Massacre emerged under the iconic name Massacre Palestina. Grounded in skateboarding, hardcore, and new wave-punk, the band planted the flag of skate-rock in Argentina and Latin America, crafting a unique sound that evolved over time while retaining its primal essence and strength. With their distinct musical style, dynamic live performances, and deep, introspective lyrics, Massacre established themselves as a standout presence in the local scene, culminating in the massive success of their landmark album "El Mamut" in May 2008, which filled Estadio Obras to capacity and solidified their position as an essential force in Argentine music.
Led by the charismatic frontman Walas and supported by the powerhouse duo of Charly Carnota and Luciano Facio on guitars, along with the deep and potent guitar work of Pablo "El Tordo" Mondello, and the versatile arrangements of Fico Piskorz, Massacre blends post-punk distortion, indie rock, psychedelia, and surrealism with intimate lyrical snapshots. Celebrating 30 uninterrupted years of rock in 2017, Massacre returned to Estadio Obras with a resounding sold-out show, reaffirming their status as a cornerstone of Argentine rock. Over their extensive career, they have released a live DVD, 11 studio albums (the last three voted Best Rock Album by the public), and two live albums.
