Biography

Mary Wells was a standout star at Motown in the early '60s, with hits like "My Guy" and "Two Lovers" produced by Smokey Robinson. However, she left the label at 21 for a movie deal with 20th Century Fox, which did not pan out as expected. Despite struggles in her later career, Wells continued to showcase her vocal talents in pop-soul recordings throughout the '60s and '70s, often working with her husband Cecil Womack. She passed away in 1992 from throat cancer, leaving behind a legacy of soulful music that deserves recognition beyond her Motown years.
