Martika, born Marta Marrero in Whittier, California in 1969 to Cuban parents, rose to fame in the late 1980s with hits like "More Than You Know" and "Toy Soldiers." Starting her career in acting, Martika transitioned to music, finding success with her self-titled debut album in 1989. She collaborated with Prince on her second album, 1991's Martika's Kitchen, and later appeared on television shows like Wiseguy. In 1999, she released "The Happy Song."

Martika's music career took off in the late 1980s with chart-topping singles like "Toy Soldiers," establishing her as a prominent figure in pop music. Born and raised in California, Martika began acting before venturing into the music industry. Her collaborations with Prince and success on the charts solidified her place in the music scene.
