Maria Taylor began her music career in the duo Little Red Rocket before forming Azure Ray with Orenda Fink. The duo released several albums and gained recognition in the indie scene before disbanding in 2004. Taylor then embarked on a solo career, releasing albums like 11:11, Lynn Teeter Flower, and LadyLuck while continuing to collaborate with various artists.
In addition to her solo work, Taylor contributed vocals to albums by Moby, Bright Eyes, and Crooked Fingers before releasing her own music. She continued to release albums both as a solo artist and with Azure Ray, with her introspective album In the Next Life arriving in 2016. Throughout her career, Taylor has showcased her warm vocals and songwriting skills, drawing inspiration from artists like Carole King and Laura Nyro.
