Marcia Ball

Born in Orange, Texas in 1949, Marcia Ball embodies the fusion of East Texas blues and Southwest Louisiana swamp rock, influenced by greats like Janis Joplin and Clifton Chenier. Ball's musical journey began with piano lessons from her family and formal training, later evolving as she played in bands and honed her piano style. Settling in Austin in the '70s, she signed with Capitol Records and eventually found success with Rounder Records, releasing albums like Soulful Dress and Gatorhythms.

Transitioning to Alligator Records in 2000, Ball continued her prolific career with acclaimed releases such as Presumed Innocent and Roadside Attractions.
