Formed in Ankara in 2001, Manga, also known as maNga, blend alternative metal, rap, electronica, and Anatolian melodies. The band gained popularity in Turkey and expanded into the European music scene in the late 2000s, achieving success at the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2009. Their debut album released in 2004 under Sony Music went gold in Turkey, leading to numerous awards and festival appearances.
Manga's interest in Japanese comics inspired their name and visual style. After starting as a cover band, they transitioned to creating original music, with guitarist Yagmur Sarig├╝l as the primary songwriter. The band's breakthrough came in 2004 when they secured a record deal after placing second in the Sing Your Song contest. Subsequent releases, including their second album "Sehr-i H├╝z├╝n" in 2009, further solidified their position as one of Turkey's prominent rock acts.
