Biography

French rap group Manau, formed in 1998 by Martial Tricoche and Cédric Soubiron, gained fame with their Celtic-inspired debut single "La Tribu de Dana," which dominated the French charts in 1998. The duo, both of Breton descent, collaborated with multi-instrumentalist Hervé Lardic (R.V.) to create their Celtic rap sound, leading to a major-label deal with Polydor. Their debut album, Panique Celtique (1998), produced chart-topping singles and earned them a Victoires de la Musique award for Rap Album of the Year, though the departure of Lardic prompted a shift in their sound on subsequent albums Fest Noz de Paname (2000) and On Peut Tous Rêver (2005). While not reaching the heights of their debut, these albums maintained the group's popularity.
