Formed in 2008 by childhood friends Nik Bruzzese and Wayne Wildrick, New Jersey-based emo-pop band Man Overboard channels the melodic energy of hardcore-influenced Garden State bands like Lifetime and Midtown. After signing with Run for Cover in 2009, the band released their debut EP Hung Up on Nothing followed by Dahlia. In 2010, they dropped an acoustic EP, Real Talk, and a live recording, while also undergoing lineup changes with Wildrick's departure and subsequent return, and adding drummer Mike Hrycenko. Their self-titled sophomore album in 2011 landed on the Billboard 200 charts, and they continued their rise with the release of their third album, Heart Attack, in 2013, featuring new drummer Joe Talarico.
