Latin rock band Malo, formed in San Francisco in 1971 by ex-members of the Malibus and Naked Lunch, achieved success with their self-titled debut album on Warner Bros. Led by vocalist Arcelio Garcia and guitarist Jorge Santana, the band's hit single "Suavecito" became a low-rider classic, reaching number 18 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Despite lineup changes, Malo released two more albums in the early 1970s, Dos and Evolution, before experiencing declining commercial success. The band continued to record sporadically over the decades, with their music enduring through compilations and references in popular songs. Frontman Arcelio Garcia led Malo into the 2010s, maintaining their legacy in the Latin rock scene.
