British jazz singer Malia, born in Malawi to a mixed African and English heritage, found her musical passion after moving to London at 14. Immersed in the vibrant English music scene, she drew inspiration from artists like Sarah Vaughan and Billie Holiday. Starting her music career in London, Malia gained recognition in France and Germany with her debut album Yellow Daffodils, known for her unique vocal timbre and sensitive interpretations.
Malia's subsequent albums, including Black Orchid and Convergence, showcased her versatility and creativity as she collaborated with artists like Boris Blank from Yello. With the release of Malawi Blues/Njira in 2017, where she collaborated with keyboardist Alex Wilson, Malia solidified her international stardom, consistently appearing on soul and jazz charts in Europe and the U.K.
