Malaysia Vasudevan, also known as Vasudevan or Sathu Arumugam Nair, was a Malaysian-born Tamil playback singer and actor, born on June 15, 1944, in Kuala Selangor. Raised in a Tamil cultural environment despite his Malayali heritage, he relocated to Chennai to pursue a career in the Tamil film industry. Over a career spanning three decades, he recorded over 8,000 songs and collaborated with renowned composers such as Ilaiyaraaja, M. S. Viswanathan, and A. R. Rahman. Vasudevan also appeared in approximately 85 films, making a significant impact on Tamil cinema and music. His voice was posthumously used in the 2024 film Vettaiyan for the song 'Manasilaayo', recreated through artificial intelligence. He passed away on February 20, 2011, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the industry.
