Majek Fashek

African reggae star Majek Fashek, known for his hit "Send Down The Rain," gained global recognition in 1987 when the song coincided with the end of a severe drought in Nigeria. Hailed as a musical prophet, Fashek's debut album, "Prisoner Of Conscience," sold over 200,000 copies in his home country. Born in Benin City, Fashek was inspired by his mother's Edo heritage and early exposure to traditional rituals featuring Olokun rhythms. He honed his musical talents in his youth, blending influences from Jamaican reggae and Indian cinema, and later collaborated closely with Nigerian music legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti.
