Israeli keyboardist and producer Idan Raichel leads the Idan Raichel Project, which aims to showcase the diverse blend of world cultures in Israel's musical landscape. Raichel's interest in Ethiopian folk music was sparked during his time working at a boarding school for immigrant youth, where he observed the challenges faced by students trying to assimilate into Israeli society. This experience led Raichel to immerse himself in learning about the various immigrant cultures in Israel, eventually culminating in the formation of the Idan Raichel Project. The project, supported by Helicon Records, features Raichel's songwriting and production, along with contributions from a wide array of musicians.
The Idan Raichel Project's debut album received critical acclaim globally and achieved significant success in Israel and beyond. Raichel and his group embarked on a busy touring schedule in response to their rising popularity, showcasing their richly multicultural music to audiences worldwide.
