Biography

Hank Williams, born Hiram King Williams on September 17, 1923, in Mount Olive, AL, was a pioneering figure in country music. He gained fame in the late 1940s with hits like "Move It on Over" and "Lovesick Blues," becoming a star known for his emotional lyrics and vocals. Williams' personal life was marked by struggles with addiction and a tumultuous marriage to Audrey Williams, culminating in their divorce in 1952.

Despite personal challenges, Williams continued to produce hits like "Cold, Cold Heart" and "Hey, Good Lookin'" in the early 1950s. His career was cut short when he died on January 1, 1953, at the age of 29 while en route to a concert in Ohio. Williams' legacy endures as a Country Music Hall of Fame inductee, with his original recordings revered for their lasting impact on the genre.
