Argentine rock musician Gustavo Cerati, born on August 11, 1959, in Buenos Aires, gained fame as the frontman of Soda Stereo, a highly influential rock en español band formed in the early '80s. The band achieved immense popularity throughout Latin America before disbanding in 1997. Cerati then embarked on a successful solo career, releasing albums like Bocanada (1999) and Ahí Vamos (2006), which showcased his diverse musical talents and garnered critical acclaim.
In addition to his music career, Cerati explored various musical styles and collaborations, including a tribute album to The Police and experimental projects like Ocio. His last solo album, Fuerza Natural (2009), showcased a folkier side of his artistry. Tragically, Cerati suffered a stroke in 2010 after a concert, leading to brain damage and a coma that lasted over four years until his passing in September 2014, leaving behind a legacy as a pioneering figure in Latin music.
