The Flamin' Groovies, a band formed in 1965 by guitarist Cyril Jordan, embraced a retro sound rooted in early rock & roll and R&B. Their 1971 hit "Teenage Head" and 1976 track "Shake Some Action" showcased their love for vintage music. Despite lineup changes, the band, led by Jordan, continued to perform and released sporadic albums over the years. In 2017, they returned with their first album in over two decades, "Fantastic Plastic."
Beginning as the Chosen Few and later the Lost and Found, the Flamin' Groovies emerged with a distinctive sound that set them apart from the San Francisco music scene. After releasing their debut EP in 1967, they signed with Epic Records and later Kama Sutra Records. The band's lineup evolved over the years, with various members contributing to their unique blend of rock influences. Their enduring legacy was marked by a loyal fan base and a resurgence in the 2000s, leading to the release of new music and continued live performances.
