Farhan Akhtar, born on January 9, 1974, is an Indian actor, film director, producer, screenwriter, playback singer, and lyricist known for his work in Hindi films. He co-founded Excel Entertainment in 1999 and gained acclaim for his directorial debut with Dil Chahta Hai (2001), followed by directing films like Lakshya (2004) and the commercially successful Don (2006). Akhtar also ventured into Hollywood with the soundtrack of Bride and Prejudice (2004) and directed the short film Positive (2007) to raise awareness about HIV-AIDS.
As an actor, Akhtar made his official debut in Rock On!! (2008), winning accolades including a National Film Award for Best Hindi Film as a producer. He further garnered praise for his roles in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011), Don 2 (2011), Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Dil Dhadakne Do (2015), Wazir (2016), Lucknow Central (2017), The Sky Is Pink (2019), and Toofaan (2021).
