Formed in 1982 by amateur musicians from São Paulo, Exaltasamba gained early recognition by winning the Festival de Música Popular de São Bernardo do Campo in consecutive years. Transitioning to professional status, they supported Jovelina Pérola Negra in the late '80s and garnered attention with their song "Deixa Como Está," leading to the release of their debut album, Eterno Amanhecer, in 1992. The band achieved national success with their third album, Luz do Desejo, in 1996, which featured hits like "Luz do Desejo" and "Telegrama." Their subsequent releases, including Desliga e Vem (1997) and Cartão Postal (1999), further solidified their popularity, earning them accolades such as the Crowley Prize for the most aired song.
Exaltasamba's journey from a humble beginning as an amateur band to nationwide acclaim was marked by their consistent musical output and live performances, including international shows in cities like Buenos Aires, New York, New Jersey, and Boston.
