David Bromberg

David Bromberg, a talented multi-instrumentalist known for his American roots music and witty humor, gained recognition through solo recordings and collaborations with top artists. After debuting as a solo artist in 1972 with an album on Columbia featuring hits like "The Holdup" co-written with George Harrison, Bromberg released numerous albums and worked with artists such as Gordon Lightfoot, Ringo Starr, and Bob Dylan. Taking a break in the '90s to study violin making, he returned with Grammy-nominated albums like 2007's Try Me One More Time, and formed the David Bromberg Band in the 2010s, releasing albums like The Blues, the Whole Blues, and Nothing But the Blues in 2016 and Big Road in 2020.

Born in Philadelphia in 1945, Bromberg grew up in New York and immersed himself in various music genres. Starting with guitar at 13, he later studied musicology at Columbia University, playing in Greenwich Village clubs. Bromberg's career blossomed as he toured, recorded, and did session work for notable acts like Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson. Despite a hiatus from touring in the '80s to focus on violin making, he returned with albums like 2011's Use Me and 2016's The Blues, the Whole Blues, and Nothing But the Blues, showcasing his diverse talents and enduring passion for music.
