David August, the Italian-German composer and founder of 99CHANTS record label, has evolved his music career towards a future-focused and authentic path after a period of self-reflection. His latest album, V─¬S, showcases a diverse range of genres and collaborations, including a kinetic live experience with choreographer Franka Marlene Foth and scenographer MFO during his sold-out European Tour in Fall 2023. Through his label, August has collaborated with renowned artists like Lena Platonos and Bunita Marcus, with the non-profit compilation 'Imaginary Landscapes' in 2022 being a standout project that delved into the question, "What does tomorrow sound like?"
During the global crisis of early 2020, August took the opportunity to contemplate the role of music and art, leading him to deepen his craft through studies in ancient philosophy, mysticism, and quantum physics. Embracing the concept of being an observer rather than a protagonist, inspired by Plato's 'Allegory of the Cave,' August's ambitious project 'V─¬S' explores the unexplainable through sound, envisioning an alternative evolution of mankind through a multi-disciplinary approach.
