Darwin Hobbs, a powerhouse gospel singer, rose to fame in the mid-'90s as a sought-after session vocalist and arranger in Nashville. With a rich, soulful voice often likened to icons such as Freddie Jackson and Luther Vandross, Hobbs made his solo debut with EMI Gospel in 1999 with the release of "Mercy." His subsequent albums, including "Vertical" in 2000 and "Broken" in 2003, achieved significant success on the Billboard gospel chart. Hobbs continued to share his voice and passion through collaborations with artists like CeCe Winans and Michael W. Smith, culminating in the release of his personal album "Free" in 2007, where he addressed his childhood trauma.
