Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft (DAF) was a pioneering duo in the avant-garde punk and techno scenes. Formed in Düsseldorf in 1978 by Gabi Delgado and Robert Görl, DAF's sound evolved from industrial noise to a stripped-down, sexualized style that influenced industrial dance music. Their album Alles Ist Gut in 1981 was a major hit in Germany, solidifying their position as innovators of Electronic Body Music (EBM). Despite disbanding in 1982, DAF periodically reunited for projects like 2003's techno-influenced Fünfzehn Neue DAF Lieder and their final release Nur Noch Einer in 2021 following Delgado's passing.

DAF's legacy extends beyond their music, as they were unapologetically open about alternative sexuality and pushed boundaries with their homoerotic album covers and provocative lyrics. Their impact on the dance genre was ahead of its time, with albums like Gold und Liebe and Für Immer showcasing their technical prowess and unique sound. Despite temporary solo ventures, Delgado and Görl continued to collaborate over the years, releasing projects like 1st Step to Heaven in 1985 and reuniting briefly in 2010. The duo's story is chronicled in the 2017 biography Das Ist DAF, with their final release Nur Noch Einer honoring Delgado's memory and cementing DAF's place in music history.
