Biography

Cappella, an Italo-house production team led by producer Gianfranco Bortolotti, utilized multiple studios and producers to create European club hits under various aliases. Bortolotti's push-button production style, known for its cheesy melodies and diva vocals, defined the Italian house phenomenon of the late '80s and early '90s. Despite criticism, Cappella's rigorous testing and remixing process ensured maximum airplay success, with Bortolotti having the final say on each release.

Inspired by Italo-disco, Bortolotti launched the Cappella Project in the late '70s, gaining success with hits like "Bauhaus (Push the Beat)" and "Heylom Halib" in the late '80s. Collaborating with diva Loleatta Holloway on "Take Me Away," Bortolotti's efforts led to chart success and the addition of new members in the early '90s. Cappella's peak came with hits like "U Got 2 Let the Music" and "Move on Baby" in 1994, but subsequent releases struggled to match earlier success, signaling a decline in the late '90s.
