Belchior is a Brazilian composer and singer known for his extensive catalog of over 300 compositions featured on 15 solo albums. His music has been recorded by notable artists such as Roberto Carlos, Elis Regina, Erasmo Carlos, and Ney Matogrosso, among others. Raised in a musical household, Belchior began his career as a poet and singer in northeast Brazil before moving to Fortaleza to pursue his studies in philosophy and humanities. He gained recognition in the early 1970s with hits like "Mucuripe" and "Na Hora do Almoço," leading to the release of successful albums like Alucinação (1976) and Coração Selvagem (1977). Throughout his career, Belchior collaborated with various artists and founded his own record label, Paradiso Discos, in 1983.

In addition to his musical achievements, Belchior's 1984 show, Cenas do Próximo Capítulo, set attendance records during his tours across Brazil. He continued to release new music, including the double album Auto-Retrato in 1999, which showcased 25 of his most popular songs arranged by Rogério Duprat. Belchior's contributions to Brazilian music have solidified his legacy as a respected composer and performer in the industry.
