Formed in 1938, Banda el Recodo is a renowned Mexican banda known for their diverse musical repertoire that includes Latin dance tunes, jazz swing, and classical music. Led by self-taught clarinet player Don Cruz Lizárraga until his passing in 1995, the group has released over 200 records and was the first Mexican banda to perform on all five inhabited continents. With numerous awards, including 12 Premio Lo Nuestro a La Musica Latina and six Latin Grammys, Banda el Recodo has established themselves as a prominent figure in the international music scene.
Following the passing of Lizárraga, Banda el Recodo continued to tour under the leadership of his clarinetist sons German and Alfonso. The group's success continued with Grammy wins, sold-out performances, and appearances at prestigious venues like the White House. Their albums consistently charted well, with releases like "Haciendo Historia" and "Mi Vicio Más Grande" reaching the top spots on both Mexican Regional and Hot Latin Albums charts.
