Babylon Circus is a French ska-punk/alternative rock band formed in 1995 in Lyon, France. The band's bilingual approach, incorporating French and English lyrics, explores political and social themes, with influences ranging from reggae to jazz, cabaret, and circus music. Their sound draws from a diverse range of artists, including classic Jamaican ska and reggae stars, British punk pioneers, and French worldbeat bands.
Babylon Circus released their first demo in 1996, followed by the EP Tout Va Bien in 1999 and the full-length album Au Marché des Illusions in 2001. Their eclectic album Dances of Resistance was released in France in 2004 and internationally in 2008. The band's lineup in 2008 featured a mix of vocalists and instrumentalists, showcasing their energetic and horn-driven sound.
