Born in Carson, California in 2000, Hykeem Carter, known professionally as Baby Keem, began honing his musical talents at a young age, releasing tracks under his own name before adopting the Baby Keem moniker in 2018 with the Midnight EP. As his skills as a rapper and producer evolved, he collaborated on projects with artists such as Kendrick Lamar and Jay Rock, contributing to Grammy-winning albums like Black Panther: The Album and Redemption. Keem's diverse musical influences were showcased in his mixtapes, including Die for My Bitch in 2019, which featured the popular single "Orange Soda."
In 2021, Baby Keem released the hit single "Family Ties" featuring Kendrick Lamar, setting the stage for his debut studio album, The Melodic Blue, which debuted in 2022 and peaked in the Top Ten of the Billboard 200 chart. The album's success was further highlighted by a Grammy win for the track "Family Ties." Continuing his collaborative efforts, Keem reunited with Kendrick Lamar in 2023 for the release of "The Hillbillies," solidifying his position as a versatile and accomplished artist in the rap scene.
