B.T. Express

Formed in the '70s by Jeff Lane in Brooklyn, this funk-disco group initially known as the King Davis House Rockers evolved into the Brooklyn Trucking Express. Featuring a lineup of talented musicians including saxophonist/vocalist Bill Risbrook and guitarist Rick Thompson, the group achieved success with hits like "Do it ('Til You're Satisfied)" and "Express." Despite a brief comeback in 1980 with the album B.T. Express 1980, only the single "Give Up the Funk (Let's Dance)" broke into the Top 40.

Led by Lane, the group's journey from their '70s debut LP to subsequent releases saw them land R&B Top Ten singles like "Give It What You Got/Peace Pipe" and "Can't Stop Groovin' Now, Wanna Do It Some More." However, after 1977's "Shout It Out," their success waned until the '80s. Although they recorded for various labels post-1980, they struggled to replicate their earlier achievements, while former member Kashif found success as a producer, performer, and composer during the '80s.
