Against All Logic

Electronic music maverick Nicolas Jaar, known for his avant-garde solo work, also delved into more dance-oriented tracks under the alias A.A.L. (Against All Logic), blending house rhythms and warped samples reminiscent of his techno roots while maintaining his boundary-pushing approach. Jaar's foray into A.A.L. gained traction with the 2018 release of the compilation album 2012 - 2017, showcasing a different side of his musical repertoire. Beginning his musical journey in the late 2000s, Jaar's meticulous production and experimental inclinations led him to establish the Other People label, through which he unveiled A.A.L.'s uplifting singles like "You Are the One" and the Issue #9 EP in 2014.

The enigmatic A.A.L. project continued to evolve with Jaar's unveiling of Illusions of Shameless Abundance in 2020, a two-track single featuring collaborations with Lydia Lunch and FKA twigs, followed by the release of 2017 - 2019, a full-length album with a guest appearance from Lunch. Jaar's openness about being the creative force behind A.A.L. marked a shift in his public persona, shedding light on his multifaceted musical identity that seamlessly blends experimentalism with dancefloor sensibilities.
