Formed in the late 1980s by Indianapolis natives Kevon and Melvin Edmonds along with Keith Mitchell, R&B vocal group After 7 quickly rose to fame with their platinum self-titled debut album in 1989, featuring hits like "Ready or Not" and "Can't Stop" produced by Babyface and L.A. Reid. Their subsequent albums Takin' My Time (1992) and Reflections (1995) continued their success with gold certifications and chart-topping singles. After a hiatus, the group returned in the mid-2000s and released Timeless in 2016, followed by Unfinished Business in 2021, showcasing their enduring collaboration with Babyface.

After 7's smooth harmonies and songwriting talents, initially overseen by Babyface and L.A. Reid, propelled them to the top of the R&B/hip-hop charts in the late '80s and early '90s. Despite lineup changes over the years, the group's sound remained consistent, earning critical acclaim and Grammy nominations for their soulful performances.
