Africando is a fusion group that blends Latin and African music, featuring vocals in Yoruba, Wolof, Mandigo, and French. Founded by producers Ibrahima Sylba and Boncana Maiga, the group's debut album in 1993 included West Senegalese singers Pape Seck, Medoune Diallo, and Nicolas Manheim. With subsequent albums like Tierra Tradicional and Gombo Salsa, Africando collaborated with a range of vocalists from Zaire, Guinea, Benin, and beyond, showcasing a mix of dance rhythms and traditional styles. The band's lineup includes talented musicians such as Hector Zarzuela, Chino and Pablo Nunezon, and Dave Rimelis, creating a unique sound that pays homage to Cuban music and pre-World War II styles.
