His iconic compositions like "Saudosa Maloca" and "Trem das Onze" are revered classics in Brazilian popular music, covered by artists across generations. Born to Italian immigrants, Barbosa struggled with various odd jobs before gaining recognition as a radio singer in 1933, eventually collaborating with Osvaldo Moles and the Demônios da Garoa to create his distinct musical chronicles of São Paulo characters. His first solo album was released posthumously, capping a career that left an indelible mark on Brazilian music history.
