Acid Bath, a Louisiana-based band formed in 1991, blended a unique mix of Black Sabbath-like sludge, bluesy Southern rock, death metal, and hardcore, earning comparisons to a range of musical acts. Despite releasing two well-received albums, "When the Kite String Pops" in 1994 and "Paegan Terrorism Tactics" in 1996, the band's cult following did not expand beyond their home state and surrounding areas. Tragically, the band's career came to an abrupt end when bassist Audie Pitre was killed in a drunk-driving accident, halting any plans for future releases.
Following the disbandment of Acid Bath, members pursued other musical projects, with Dax Riggs and Mike Sanchez forming Agents of Oblivion, and Sammy Pierre Duet joining Crowbar and creating Goatwhore. Although rumors of a new album circulated, the band never released further material. Despite their limited commercial success, Acid Bath has since achieved a legendary status within the rock/metal underground scene, resonating with fans who appreciate their diverse and unconventional musical style.
