Biography

Ace, led by the soulful vocals of Paul Carrack, stood out among pub rock bands with their R&B sound. The band's brief success on the pop charts with hits like "How Long" was followed by a decline in popularity, leading to their disbandment after the release of their final album, "No Strings," in 1977. Carrack went on to have a successful solo career and collaborate with various artists, including Roxy Music, Squeeze, Nick Lowe, and Mike + the Mechanics.

Formed in 1972 by Phil Harris and Alan "Bam" King, Ace gained traction in the pub rock scene before achieving commercial success with their hit single "How Long." Despite attempts to break into the U.S. market, the band ultimately disbanded in 1977. Following the breakup, members pursued other musical endeavors, with Carrack finding success both as a solo artist and through collaborations with prominent acts like Roxy Music and Squeeze.
