A$AP Mob, a Harlem-based hip-hop collective formed around 2006 by A$AP Yams, A$AP Bari, and A$AP Illz, gained recognition for their throwback vibe and Gothic and Masonic fashion influences. Their most successful member, A$AP Rocky, emerged as a standout with his mixtapes and singles, leading the group alongside key member A$AP Ferg. The collective expanded to include producers, graphic designers, and fashion designers, collaborating with brands like Blvck Scvle. Despite setbacks like the scrapped album L.O.R.D. in 2014 and the passing of A$AP Yams in 2015, A$AP Mob persevered and released their official debut album, Cozy Tapes, Vol. 1: Friends, in 2016.
Following A$AP Yams' passing, A$AP Rocky released his second studio album, At.Long.Last.A$AP, in 2015, which paid tribute to Yams and showcased the group's diverse production influences. A$AP Ferg also made his mark with the release of Always Strive and Prosper in the following year. The group's second official album, Cozy Tapes Vol. 2: Too Cozy, arrived in 2017, featuring a lineup of notable guest artists and solidifying A$AP Mob's presence in the hip-hop scene.
