Deaf School, a Liverpool art rock band formed in 1976, embraced the Tin Pan Alley sound over punk to offer a unique alternative to the commercial music of the ‘70s. Influenced by the likes of Cole Porter and Kurt Weill, their debut double album, 2nd Honeymoon, stood out amidst the punk wave in late ‘70s UK. Recording two more albums of eclectic style, the band eventually disbanded, with members pursuing various musical endeavors. Steve Allen, known as Enrico Cadillac in Deaf School, formed Original Mirrors, Clive Langer ventured into production with Alan Winstanley, and Bette Bright collaborated with other musicians on projects like the Illuminations.
