Cross Canadian Ragweed, formed in 1994 in Stillwater, OK, gained a strong following in the Texas/Oklahoma area before expanding nationally with their alt-country sound. The band, comprised of Cody Canada, Randy Ragsdale, Grady Cross, and Jeremy Plato, released their first album, Highway 377, in 2001. They went on to release several albums with different labels, including Soul Gravy and Garage under Universal South, and Mission California under Smith Music Group. In 2009, they dedicated their album Happiness and All the Other Things to Willie Nelson's late stage manager, Randall "Poodie" Locke.

Known for their relentless touring, Cross Canadian Ragweed established a loyal fan base and gained popularity with albums like Live and Loud at the Wormy Dog and Carney. Their live CD/DVD Back to Tulsa: Live and Loud at Cain's Ballroom showcased their energetic performances. With a sound that blended country and rock influences, the band's music resonated with audiences across the country, solidifying their place in the alt-country scene.
