Hailing from the New York area, vocal duo Billie and Lillie gained fame in late 1957 with their hit single ‘La Dee Dah’, written by Frank C. Slay Jnr. and Bob Crewe. The bouncy track soared to the Top 10 in the US charts and sold over a million copies. Billy, who was also a trumpet player with his backing group the Thunderbirds, and Lillie released most of their singles through London Records in the UK. Scottish teen sensation Jackie Dennis covered ‘La Dee Dah’, achieving a Top 5 hit with his rendition.
