Led by musician and producer Derrick Rahming, the group achieved club chart success with tracks like "Give It All You Got (Doggy Style)" in 1987 and "Turn U Out" in 1989. Their debut album, Against All Odds, released in 1989, showcased a blend of hip-hop influences and bass music, garnering attention from labels like Luke Skyywalker Records.

In the following years, Afro Rican continued to make waves in the music scene, releasing albums like Sex and Fun in 1991 and Give It All You Got 95 in 1995. The group's enduring impact was highlighted in collaborations with artists like Bass Mekanik for the single "Do It" in 2001 and the sampling of their hit track "Give It All You Got (Doggy Style)" by Fergie in her 2006 hit "Fergalicious."
