8beat is a Jakarta-based band formed in 2017, featuring Maysheilla Chandra, Kevin Johannes, Markus Hasaya, Marvin Rihardie, and Raka Apriliyo. Drawing inspiration from various decades, their music blends elements of the 70s, 80s, and 90s with a modern touch, incorporating influences from artists such as Michael Jackson, Jamiroquai, and Tame Impala. Their debut single, "Senandung Lalu," released in November 2018, infuses neo-soul with vintage synth, saxophone, and guitar sounds. Their subsequent single, "Kisah tentangmu," continues the narrative with disco themes and a nod to 80s synth-pop dance music.
